About Lammersville Joint Unified School District
The Lammersville Joint Unified School District (LJUSD) is the educational backbone of Mountain House, overseeing 9 schools (8 K-8 campuses and 1 comprehensive high school) serving approximately 7,949 students. Under Superintendent Dr. Kirk Nicholas, LJUSD has earned a reputation as one of the top-performing school districts in California.
The numbers speak for themselves: 70% math proficiency (vs. 34% state average) and 73% reading proficiency (vs. 47% state average), placing LJUSD in the top 5% of all California school districts. Mountain House High School earned the prestigious 2024 National Blue Ribbon School designation from the U.S. Department of Education. Multiple campuses have received California Distinguished School and Gold Ribbon awards.
The district traces its roots to the one-room Lammersville School established in 1876 โ two years before Tracy was founded. LJUSD became an independent unified school district on July 1, 2011, after voters separated from Tracy Unified. Today, the district offers Project Lead The Way (PLTW) STEM curriculum at all schools, an Early College Pathway with San Joaquin Delta College, CTE career pathways, and Gifted & Talented programs.
