Julius Cordes Elementary, home of the Cheetahs, opened in August 2020 and immediately set the standard for academic excellence in Mountain House. With the motto "Spot Your Pride," Cordes students wear their orange and navy blue colors with confidence โ and the test scores back it up.
Cordes ranks in the top 2% of California elementary schools with extraordinary proficiency rates: 84% in math and 85% in reading on CAASPP assessments. To put that in perspective, California state averages are 34% for math and 47% for reading. These results make Cordes not just the best school in Mountain House, but one of the best in all of San Joaquin County.
The state-of-the-art campus was purpose-built for 21st-century learning, with flexible classroom spaces, integrated technology, and dedicated STEM facilities. Principal Darren McDonald leads a team focused on student-centered instruction and high expectations.
